The Proxy Server that previously provided off-site accesss to electronic journals, database, and books, experienced a hardware failure at the end of Spring 2005. Because the replacement server (with the exact same configuration) has been behaving erratically, we have installed a second type of proxy software, and this one does not require any browser configuration, but does require you to follow links from the library homepage (www.lib.muohio.edu).
When you visit one of these URL's for electronic journals, databases and books from an off-campus location, you will be prompted to enter your unique_id and password.
Both this new service and the old proxy server will be running both options through the end of this semester, and likely through the summer. However, because the old proxy server has been behaving so eratically, we'd like to encourage you to switch over to the new one, which will require de-configuring your browser. We are in the process of providing instructions for various operating systems and, which will be made available as we complete work on them.
Instructions are available for:
- Windows (95, 98, 2000, XP)
- Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.x
- Firefox
- Netscape 6.x/7.x and Mozilla
- Mac OS X
- All Browsers
If you need assistance, have clarifications/corrections to the instructions, or just want to report on how it is (not) working, use this form. Miami faculty members may also contact their liaison librarian for assistance.
When reporting problems, please use this form; it will automatically provide your IP address and browser version to help us debug the situation.
If you are having troubles authenticating with our service, we suggest you authenticate with OhioLINK for the time being.
If you are think you are having uniqueID and password problems, you might want to consult the MUnet Password Utilities Help page.
