When Mr. and Mrs. Comfort decide to have a family reunion, they start making plans for their guests, including where everyone is going to sit. When people start to arrive, things start getting interesting. Eventually everything works out after some mathematical thinking.

Henry the Rabbit decides to paint himself with red stripes. Because of the stripes, a fox sees Henry and kidnaps him. Eventually, Henry is reunited with his parents and learns a lesson.

The Tub People are wooden toys who love to play in the tub. Until one day the child of the Tub People gets sucked down the drain. Eventually, a plumber is called and he rescues the child. The next day the Tub People find themselves in a new room with no drains.

This Native American story describes some boys who are alone in the wild at night. They meet a wolf who has close kinship to a tribe until the white men drives the wolves away. The boys bring the wolves back.

16. Luenn, Nancy (1998). A gift for abuelita: Celebrating the day of the dead. : Rising Moon.

Abstract:
Rosita and her grandmother are very close. Rosita's grandmother teaches Rosita how to braid, garden, and make tortillas. When Rosita's grandmother dies, Rosita feels a great loss without her around and misses her terribly. Her family tells Rosita that she can make a gift to give to her grandmother on the Day of the Dead. Rosita braids a cord that is filled with love and memories for her grandmother.

A ministrel finds a dragon-pup egg on a beach and adopts it after it hatches. The minstrel raises the dragon-pup, Lucky, until he is stolen. Due to Lucky's absence, the minstrel's songs suffer until he is once again united with Lucky.

21. Swanson, Diana (2003). The balloon sailors. New York: Annick Press.

Abstract:
When bickering princes take the throne, the kingdom is split in two by a wall so that each brother rules half. The kingdom is divided and it is illegal for people to cross the wall. Since Tamala and Abalon are forbidden to see their grandmother and cousin on the other side of the wall, they decide to float over it in a hot air balloon. They work with their parents to collect materials, build the balloon, and wait for the perfect weather conditions. The family departs during the night, escapes military fire from soldiers, and surprises their relatives in the morning. This adventure is loosely based on the true story of two East German families sailing over the Berlin Wall in their own hot air balloon in 1979.

Abstract:
Ami Chi is going on a trip to Vietnam with her parents. Not very happy, Ami Chi sees her grandmother and her uncle. Along the way she meets a girl named Thao at the market. Thao shows Ami Chi all around the market. Ami Chi finally goes back to her grandmother's house, where her parents are worried. Now with an appreciation for her other home, Vietnam, she goes back home to America.

24. Willems, Mo (2004). Knuffle bunny. New York: Hyperion.

Abstract:
Trixie, her daddy, and her trusty bunny companion are heading to the laundry mat. While there, Trixie helps her daddy sort the clothes. Unfortunately, Trixie’s bunny becomes part of the dryer pile. Trixie’s dad doesn’t realize that the bunny is in the dryer. In trying to get his attention Trixie says her first word. In the end, she and both parents run to retrieve Knuffle Bunny.
