Abstract:
Did you know that chickens gossip too? Come read about one chick that plucks out her feathers, supposedly to look good and impress her rooster. After one of her feathers is plucker, an owl sees her actions and spreads the word. The story gets turned around and exaggerated especially when the newspaper prints it.

Sumi, a young Korean girl, lives with her grandmother when her mother goes off to the army. Sumi watches the train go by each day, wishing her mother would come home soon. The train reminds her grandmother of the days of war when she had to leave her own husband.

Abstract:
Lucille and her younger brother, Natt, play together and use their imagination. They run around and exercise in their yard. While they are playing, a bad storm hits. Their mother puts them in the cellar as she goes to help an elderly neighbor. The storm is a tornado. When the storm is over, the two children find the two adults, and life is back to the way it was: imaginary.

Abstract:
On a nice sunny day, Monster and the little boy and little girl go to the beach. While relaxing near the water, all the children came over to ask Monster to play hide and seek. Monster hides, but the children always find him. They tell Monster to hide where he cannot be found, so he covers himself with sand. When the children can’t find him, they play on a sand hill. Soon, a boy begins to dig in the sand and found Monster.

Abstract:
The land of Khor was a peaceful place free of men, in which woman could live side by side in harmony. One day, Pedikhous, of Egpyt decides to test the strength of the women through various attacks. To his surprise the women are stronger and more determined than he ever imagined. Instead of fighting against them, de decides to live in peace and love beside them.

Abstract:
Jamari grows up drawn to the beating of the djembe, the keeper of the peace, the great drum of his Mali village beating to pacify the mountain. Jamari grows older and becomes the drummer of the djembe. He eventually gets caught up in other aspects of village life. When the village is once again threatened by the angry mountain, Jamari returns to his post as drummer for village peace.

"Slowly, slowly, slowly..." the sloth moves through the day. Many animals are curious as to why the sloth is so slow, quiet, boring, and lazy!? In a short description of the sloth written and provided by Jane Goodall at the beginning of the book, she states that sloths are "delightful, gentle, peace-loving creatures".

Mr. T.W. Anthony Woo is a friendly mouse that keeps the cobbler of Shooshko company. The cobbler's sister wants the dog and cat to catch the mouse and be rid of him. Instead, the cat, dog, and mouse cooperate to get rid of the cobbler's sister and live in peace.

The lion king goes to his neighbor to ask for help during a drought. The neighboring king refuses to help and even rages war on some beggars. The neighboring king loses because he is overweight. When it begins to rain, seeds grow into food to be shared by all.
