Abstract:
A myth about why mosquitoes buzz in people's ears. A mosquito causes problems in the forest so everyone is mad at the mosquito. Mosquitoes now buzz in people's ears because they want to know if everyone is still mad at them.

Abstract:
After a stroke of bad luck, Tooley calls up on the "Friendly Folk" to help him improve his luck. When Hooks comes to the door, Tooley invites him in the house despite warnings from his cat. Hooks takes advantage of Tooley and makes his luck even worse than before-until the house gobbaleen scares Hooks away.

4. Alexander, Sue (1985). World famous muriel and the scary dragon. Boston: Little, Brown & Co..

Abstract:
A king asks Muriel to help people from his kingdom who are afraid of a dragon. With her peanut butter cookies, Muriel finds the dragon. She then gives the dragon a bath which makes him feel better. In return, he becomes a nicer dragon so the king continues to give him a bath once a week.

Mother Moon is looking for her lost child who is floating in the sea. As she cries for her lost child, Mother Moon's tears become falling stars. A group of otters swimming near the bay begin to play with the falling stars. The sparkle from those stars lead Mother Moon to her son.

Abstract:
As a sequel to Jack and the Beanstalk, Jim visits the giant who has poor eyesight, no hair and no teeth. Jim eventually takes the giant glasses, false teeth, wig, and gold coins. In the end, they become good friends.

Harry the giant may not be very bright, but he is definitely very kind. When a wizard threatens to take over the town, Harry risks getting turned into a stone toad. Instead, the wizard's plan backfires and he turns himself into a stone toad.

18. Del Negro, Janice (1998). Lucy dove. New York: DK Publishing, Inc.

Abstract:
Lucy Dove is up for a challenge. In the town she lives in, there is a rich laird. He was told by a fortune teller that a pair of trousers sewn by the light of the full moon in the graveyard of old St. Andrew's Church would bring him good luck. The rich laird proclaims that a sackful of gold will be awarded to whoever sews the trousers. St. Andrew's churchyard is believed to be haunted by "some fearsome thing" and anyone who enters the churchyard is said to never be seen again. Despite these factors, Lucy takes on the laird's challenge. As Lucy sits and sews in the graveyard, she is greeted by "the fearsome thing" that everyone had talked about. The monster runs after Lucy as she carries the finished trousers in her hands. Finally, Lucy gets the trousers to the laird and receives her well deserved bag of gold.

Lucky, the little boy, has to outsmart the giant, Elmo, in order to get his parents back. He does three tasks to get them back as well as the brook that the giant stole. In the end, the family is together again, and Elmo becomes their friend.
