Abstract:
Two young children new to Lucy Little Road, help us reveal the simple yet important life of the goat lady; a life that many people in the town despise. Through the children's time spent helping the goat lady, they learn of her vast life experiences. It isn't until after the children's mother takes portraits of the goat lady, that the rest of the town see waht a truly wonderful person the goat lady is.

Being a bicycle messenger in a big city is a rigorous job, but someone has to do it. The messenger wakes early and works late to deliver the proper messages to their appropriate places. Nothing can stop him, not rain, snow, or distractions of others.

Abstract:
Christopher's dog, Ben, has an encounter with a porcupine. Ben gets a nose full of quills. Christopher wants to protect Ben by keeping him tied up at night. Christopher's father helps him understand that Ben must learn to fend for himself. Christopher decides to let Ben go so they both would be happy.

Abstract:
A rolling egg finds a home in a duck nest. It wasn't until three crocodiles find Guji Guji that she may not be a duck. The crocodiles ask Guji Guji to trap his family for them to eat. Instead Guji Guji, with the help of his duck family, drop heavy rocks into the crocodiles open mouths.

8. Child, Lauren (2001). What planet are you from, Clarice Bean?. Cambridge, MA: Candlewick Press.

Abstract:
Clarice Bean is having a hard time coming up with an idea for her project on the environment. To make matters worse, she is paired up with her tag-along neighbor, Robert Granger. Her situation looks hopeless until her brother becomes an ecowarrior in an effort to "free the tree" from being cut down in their neighborhood. Robert and Clarice become ecowarriors themselves, saving the tree and their project.

A mouse family goes on a picnic. While walking they run into a sleeping lion who captures one of the mouse children. When the lion lets the mouse go, the family promises that they will one day return the favor. One day, the lion gets into trouble and the mice come to his rescue.
