Abstract:
The Abbott's are Easter egg painters. Their son, Orson, is talked into having a Christmas party for all the neighboring young rabbits. Everyone pitches in to help and the party is a huge success.

2. Agee, Jon (2001). Milo's hat trick. New York: Hyperion Books for Children.

Abstract:
Milo the magician had one more chance to pull a rabbit out of his hat or else he would be fired. While searching for a rabbit, he finds a bear. The bear is able to pretend his bones are made of rubber and agrees to jump out of Milo's hat. The show is a huge success until the bear becomes tired. Milo wonders what he will do until he realizes that he too can pretend his bones are made of rubber.

3. Akass, Susan (1993). Number nine duckling. Honesdale, PA: Caroline House.

Abstract:
Eight of Delushka's nine eggs have hatched. The ninth duckling is scared to come out and needs his mother's help. After he emerges from his shell, he lags behind his siblings due to his fears. All of the farm animals encourage him until he can catch up and join his family.

4. Alderson, Brian (1999). The tale of the turnip. Cambridge, MA: Candlewick Press.

Abstract:
With the help of his family, a farmer grows an oversized turnip and presents it to the King. The King gives the farmer a cartload of gold for his turnip. The King's gift entices a squire to present the King with a horse, but the reward is not what the squire has in mind.

5. Alexander, Martha (1995). You're a genius, blackboard bear. Cambridge, MA: Candlewick Press.

Abstract:
Anthony wants to go to the moon. His only problem is that he does not know how to build a spaceship. When Anthony goes to sleep, his friend blackboard bear builds a spaceship. Together they pack the spaceship for their trip. Anthony begins to get worried about the trip and decides he will stay safely at home while blackboard bear goes to the moon himself.

6. Alexander, Sue (1985). World famous muriel and the scary dragon. Boston: Little, Brown & Co..

Abstract:
A king asks Muriel to help people from his kingdom who are afraid of a dragon. With her peanut butter cookies, Muriel finds the dragon. She then gives the dragon a bath which makes him feel better. In return, he becomes a nicer dragon so the king continues to give him a bath once a week.

Abstract:
A professor invites Muriel to watch a magician warm up before a magic show. When the magician disappears, the professor asks Muriel to find the magician for him. She needs peanut butter cookies to help her think. She finally finds him in the library and has him back in time to do his magic show.

8. Anaya, Rudolfo (2004). The santero's miracle: A bilingual story. Albuquerque: University of New Mexico.

Abstract:
Don Jacobo and his grandson carve a figurine of a saint from wood for the Christmas season. A large snow storm comes and closes the roads. This creates problems for Don Jacobo's family who wants to visit their family. It is also a problem for his sick neighbor who needs to to go the the hospital.

Two children and their ponies get caught in a snow storm. There is also an earthquake and a volcano that prevent them from making it home. One pony is about to give birth and the two children help.

Abstract:
One night, Tim noticed the light from the lighthouse was not flashing past his window. So Tim, the captain, and their friends braved the storm only to find robbers who wanted the ship to crash so they could get their goods. The children help save the lighthouse.

13. Argueta, Manlio (1990). Magic dogs of the volcanoes. San Francisco: Children's Book Press.

Abstract:
The people of El Salvador are protected by cadejos, which are magic dogs that are descendents of the volcanoes. Two ancient volcanoes help the cadejos when Don Tonio and his 13 brothers send soldiers to destroy the cadejos. This book contains both Spanish and English text.

14. Arnold, Katya (1997). Duck, duck, goose?. New York: Holiday House.

Abstract:
A goose wishes to look different than all the other geese so she travels to all the different birds she envies and switches one of her body parts for theirs. She later learns she is unable to perform the same things the other birds can even with her new look, and she begins to appreciate her own qualities.

15. Aylesworth, Jim (1999). The full belly bowl. New York: Atheneum Books for Young Readers.

Abstract:
After being captured by a fox, a wee man is rescued and nurtured by a very old man for three days. In appreciation of the old man's kindness, a bowl is left on his porch with a note about its special powers. The beautiful full, belly bowl multiplies any item placed in it. This brings both happiness and trouble to the old man.

In the middle of the night, a little boy wakes up suddenly because of a bad dream. He falls out of bed and is extremely frightened. His parents rush in to help him. After comforting words from his parents, he goes back to sleep realizing that it was just a bad dream.

A young boy goes to his grandparent's house for a summer vacation. His grandfather has recently found out that he has Alzheimers disease, so they spend their summer vacation collecting memories to put in a box. The box is to help them never forget the memories they have made together.

Three Fools (a fictional tribe invented by the Apache Indians) go looking for buffalo and see horses for the first time. Three of the Indians want a horse to help them become big, important men. Instead of becoming bigger men, they make bigger fools of themselves.
