Abstract:
A bear scratches the bark of a tree; beetles form small openings; a woodpecker eats the beetles; bacteria takes over the tree and a small hole is formed. Although the tree is dying, this small hole is still a home for many animals. Both living and dying trees are important as shelter and home to living organisms.

2. Carle, Eric (1999). The very clumsy click beetle. New York: Philomel.

Abstract:
The very clumsy click beetle goes for a walk and accidently falls onto his back. The wise old click beetle sees him struggling and demonstrates how he can flip back to his feet. The clumsy click beetle tries and tries but cannot master it until he's about to get stepped on. He narrowly avoids the foot and saves his own life.

3. Carle, Eric (1977). The grouchy ladybug. New York: HarperCollins.

Abstract:
A grouch ladybug and a friendly ladybug fly to a leaf with aphids. The grouchy ladybug tells the friendly ladybug to go away. They decide to fight, but the grouchy ladybug goes on to look for even bigger food. Every animal the grouchy ladybug encounters is not big enough until the whale slaps her across the ocean. At six o'clock, the grouchy ladybug returns to the leaf. The friendly ladybug saves the grouchy ladybug some aphids, and the two ladybugs become friends.

20. Nickle, John (1999). The ant bully. New York: Scholastic.

Abstract:
Lucas is different than the other kids and he is often bullied by one boy in particular, Sid. Sid takes Lucas' hat and sprays him with water and to take out his frustrations, Lucas in turn bullies the ants. To teach Lucas a lesson the ants take him to their queen ant. The Queen ant has the wizard ant shrink Lucas so he can live and work as an ant so he can appreciate what they do. Lucas gathered food, defended the colony, and attended to the queen. The queen has Lucas turned back into his normal size and when Lucas wakes up, he sees that the ants have decided to teach Sid a lesson because how he is ant size.

Abstract:
Lucas is and ordinary boy with glasses being mistreated by Sid, the neighborhood bully. Lucas copes with the bullying by tormenting ants with water. The ants retaliate and take Lucas to their Queen ant. She has Lucas shrunk so he can live and work as an ant so he can appreciate what they do. Lucas gathered food, defended the colony, and attended to the queen. The queen appreciates the lesson Lucas has learned and rewards him by turning him back into his normal size. When Lucas wakes up, he sees that the ants have decided to teach Sid a lesson, because he has now been shrunk to their size.

A donkey is tired and wants to go to sleep but he finds a pig inside his stable. The pig says that he is there because there is someone in his pigsty. The donkey goes to the pigsty and finds the dog there. The dog is in the pigsty because the hen is in his baske. A mouse is in the henhouse because a beetle is sitting in his mousehole. Does the donkey ever get to sleep?
