What is SPIN?

SPIN is an electronic mail distribution list. Lists are an electronic way to distribute information. They automatically send an e-mail message to a "list" of other e-mail addresses. If you can send and receive e-mail, you can "subscribe" to a list and receive the messages distributed by that list and send your own messages to the other subscribers of the list.

The purpose of the SPIN Listserv is to provide an informal forum for discussion that reaches beyond the school psychology intern site and university classroom through cyberspace and across Ohio bridging the gaps caused by time and distance.

This space is designed to provide an inexpensive way to communicate, raise questions, discuss issues, exchange resources, network, stay in touch, and generally enrich the quality of the intern experience. It is expected that this will be a self-regulated intern space. There are a few ground rules to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Ground Rules

Topics or postings should be broadly related to school psychology, the internship experience, "hot topics", education, your professional training, etc.. Please note that specific confidential discussions are not appropriate here, however some venting, debates, and brainstorming with others is welcomed. The tone of information and messages exchanged should be cordial with appropriate web and e-mail etiquette observed. i.e. no name calling or four letter words. Additionally individuals posting information or messages should always identify themselves and give their e-mail address.

Who else is on SPIN?

The SPIN Listserv is a closed listserv, open only to the 100 or so school psychologists currently interning in Ohio. The list moderator, Dr. Brenda Stevens from Miami University, is also on the list.

Getting Started with SPIN

To get started with the SPIN, you must first subscribe to the list. Once subscribed, you will begin receiving messages sent by other subscribers and you will be able to send or "post" your own messages to the list.

How to Subscribe

Using your email program, start a new message and address it to:

LISTSERV@LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU

Leave the subject field blank. In the text of the message type:

subscribe SPIN yourfirstname yourlastname

Send the message and within a few minutes you will receive a message confirming your request.

How to Post a Message

To send a message to all the subscribers on the SPIN list, simply address your message to:

SPIN@LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU

Your message will automatically be sent to every subscriber on the list.
