IT Services is working to bring up printing from laptops via Miami's wireless connection. These instructions are currently available from http://www.muohio.edu/uprint/.

Using uPrint

Attention Wireless Users: please read the Note to Wireless Users below before attempting to use uPrint.

Miami uPrint is a service that allows you to print to the pay-for-print printers from your own desktop or laptop. Windows and MacOS setup instructions are available. To go to the printer list, click the following link:

Important
You only need to install the printer once. Once the printer is installed on your computer, you no longer need to visit this page or the printer list. Simply use your computer's printer selection functionality when you print. Your print jobs will stay in the print queue for two hours.

Caution
Do not update the printer properties in any way, or unpredictable results may occur when printing. You may change the paper, orientation, number of copies, etc. but do not adjust printer properties. If changed from the default, refunds for undesirable prints will not be made.

Note to Wireless Users

To be able to use the uPrint service over the wireless network, you will need to set your computer for MU-WIRELESS using 802.1x

802.1x encrypts (scrambles) your data so that eavesdroppers cannot read your network traffic. Miami requires that you use this service when using uPrint over wireless so that your print jobs cannot be intercepted and read by others.

Slow EJC Downloads

The MU Libraries have been experiencing problems downloading PDF Full-text articles from OhioLINK's Electronic Journals Center (EJC) since last week. Although Miami (networking service and Libraries), OhioLINK and OARNET have been working on resolving this issue, it is likely the problem will continue this week. Numerous faculty and students have reported this problem and expressed serious concern. The library is aware of the problem and is working with key players in order to solve this problem as soon as possible. In the meantime, there is a way to bypass this problem if faculty/students are OFF-CAMPUS. Off-campus can access EJC by bypassing Miami's authentication system and using OhioLINK's authentication system to download articles at normal speed (Please note that OhioLINK's authentication will not provide access to Miami-only resources).

Here are the steps for using OhioLINK's authentication system to connect to the EJC:

1. You must be off-campus.
2. Go to library's homepage (muohio.lib.muohio.edu) to Databases A-Z > Electronic Journal Center
3. On the page that asks the user to log in with MU username and password...Ignore it. Click the link http://journals.ohiolink.edu/cgi-bin/sciserv.pl?collection=journals . You will be directed to the OhioLINK's Institution Selection Form. Select institution (Miami University) and branch location and click "Submit".
4. Then you will be in the EJC and can proceed to search for journals and articles and download quickly.

IT Services has eliminated Audio Visual (AV) Check Out Services that was once held in Gaskill Hall. The equipment has been dispersed, with a few items coming to the Libraries System. We have not assumed the services that went along with the previous service such as delivery, set up, and reservations etc. The items received by the libraries are merely additions to the libraries' collection of digital equipment.

Available for loan to students, staff, and faculty are: projectors, portable PA systems, tripods, projection screens, digital cameras, video cameras, and audio recorders. They are available only as a first-come, first-served basis with a loan period of 24-hours. These items cannot be reserved and are available on a walk-in basis only. Please plan to join us for the Miami University Libraries' New Graduate Student Orientation at 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27 or at 2:00-3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28 in King Library 110.
