Proposal Submission Form

We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the ALAO Annual Conference. This years timely theme is At the Crossroads: Recharging, Redefining, and Realigning our Libraries. Our libraries and institutions are going through a period of challenging and complex changes. In an economic climate beyond our control, we are challenged by expectations that we will continue to provide existing services, while simultaneously developing and supporting new ones. We want to hear from those who have viewed these challenges as opportunities, from those who used challenges as motivation to spin off in rewarding new directions. We are all facing many of the same issues and know we can all learn from one another.

The ALAO Conference Program Committee invites you to share your experiences, practical solutions, expertise, or innovative practices by submitting a proposal for a conference presentation or poster session. Presenters are encouraged to develop creative proposals that show thoughtful exploration of the conference theme. We have identified 3 separate tracks, but dont hesitate to veer off-track and offer other ideas.

Guidelines:

  • For more information on the conference theme, see the Conference Theme and Tracks.
  • Proposals for presentations and poster sessions will be blind-reviewed for content, relevance to the conference theme, and overall appeal.  A concise, clearly written description and abstract will help the reviewers.
  • Exclude the name of your institution, department and any personal names in the abstract to expedite the blind review process. You do not need to exclude this information in the brief description.
  • You will be contacted regarding your a-v/technology requirements when your proposal is accepted.
  • All presenters will be responsible for their own registration and travel costs.
  • Please print a copy of the completed form for your records before submitting.
  • You will receive an email confirmation for receipt of your proposal within 5 business days of submission. If you do not receive this confirmation email, please contact John Crissinger (crissinger.5@osu.edu).
  • Contact John Crissinger (crissinger.5@osu.edu) if you have any questions.

Reminder:

  • ALAO provides financial support of $150 to assist and encourage support staff members whose presentation proposals have been accepted. All grant applications will be considered by the Program Committee and more than one recipient may be chosen. Support staff may complete and submit this application no later than August 3, 2009, for full consideration.

Deadline:

  • Proposals are due by April 3, 2009
