Links to electronic reserve readings are automatically added to each students myMiami service. The student will click on the My Courses tab; If there are electronic reserves readings associated with a course the link Library e-Reserves will display beneath course information
Faculty do not need to use Blackboard in order to avail themselves of electronic reserves. E-reserves and Blackboard are alike in many ways. A major difference is that for Electronic Reserves the libraries handles "scanning" - the conversion of print materials into electronic format. For those faculty who have print materials on reserve in addition to electronic reserves, the library's electronic reserve's site provides a list of print materials on reserve, as well as the location of the materials (in which library), and the "status" of the materials (in-use, available). The "Guest" access option on Blackboard may, in some circumstances, violate copy right guidelines.
Note: Students will find that access to electronic reserves is frequently easier when linking from their personal myMiami sites than from Blackboard. If linking from myMiami to a copyright-protected article on e-reserves, the student will be passed directly through to the article not needing to input the copyright password. However, when linking from Blackboard to a copyright items, the student is not passed through, but must take the additional step of inputting the copyright password.
