The Miami University Libraries operate on the basis that all patron records are confidential between the library and patron. The Libraries will not violate the privacy of patron by divulging any information regarding a patron to a third party except in the following circumstances:
- The patron consents in writing, designating the person or agency to whom the data shall be disclosed
- In compliance with a court order (subpoena), as part of a criminal investigation
